Smart Home & Building Automation
We build smart homes on Home Assistant — Shelly devices behind your switches, custom ESPHome for anything off the shelf can't do, all running locally on a small server in your home. No cloud, no subscriptions. KNX for commercial projects.
Smart home and building automation that actually works
A smart home shouldn't be a fragile pile of apps that break when a company pivots. We build ours on Home Assistant — one local brain running on a small server in your home — and automate the things you actually care about with devices you can buy off the shelf and keep using for a decade. Shelly behind your switches, custom ESPHome builds when the shelf doesn't have what we need, Zigbee where batteries need to last. Everything keeps working when your internet doesn't.
What we set up
From simple quality-of-life upgrades to full-home or full-building automation, we design systems around how you actually live and work:
- Lighting automation — presence-based lighting, circadian-rhythm adjustments, scenes for different activities, and energy-aware schedules
- Climate control — heating and cooling that adapts to occupancy, time of day, weather forecasts, and even dynamic energy pricing
- Security integration — cameras, motion sensors, door and window sensors, smart locks, and alarms unified in a single dashboard
- Energy monitoring — real-time consumption tracking, solar production insights, and automated load management to reduce peak usage
- Blinds and shades — sun-tracking, privacy schedules, and coordination with lighting and climate for comfort and efficiency
- Multi-room audio — whole-home audio with per-room control, scenes, and integration with your existing media services
Local-first by design
Your data stays on your network. Automations run locally, so your home keeps working even if the internet or a cloud provider goes down. That's not paranoia — it's robust engineering and better privacy.
Our everyday stack is simple on purpose: Home Assistant as the brain, Shelly relays for switches, sockets and HVAC because they're cheap, reliable and fit behind the hardware you already have, ESPHome on ESP32 whenever we need a device that doesn't exist yet, and Zigbee for sensors and buttons that have to run on a coin cell for years. Nothing exotic, nothing you can't replace later.
- WiFi (Shelly, ESPHome) — our daily driver. Shelly relays fit behind existing switches for fast, affordable retrofits; ESPHome lets us build exactly the device that's missing when no off-the-shelf option fits.
- Zigbee — our go-to for battery-powered sensors and buttons. Low-power mesh, works with dozens of brands, no cloud required.
Need KNX? We do that too — mostly for commercial new-builds, Nr.730-compliant buildings, and big renovations where it's already in the spec. We program it, commission it, and bridge it into Home Assistant so you still get one dashboard for everything.
Built to be maintained
A smart home or building that only the installer can understand isn't smart — it's a liability. Every system we build includes clean automation logic, proper documentation, and a dashboard anyone in the household or office can use. When something needs to change six months later, it should be simple — whether you do it yourself or call us.
Commercial building automation
The same principles apply to offices, retail spaces and public buildings. We design and implement building automation and control systems (BACS) on Home Assistant, with KNX where the specification calls for it — covering lighting, heating, ventilation and cooling, with centralized monitoring and automated control that reduces energy consumption and meets local regulations (such as the Nr.730 requirement in Latvia for commercial buildings above 290 kW).
Frequently asked questions
How much does a smart home cost?
It depends on scope. Simple smart lighting and climate control for one floor — from €2,000. Full home automation with security, blinds, and energy monitoring — from €8,000. Commercial BACS with Nr.730 compliance — scoped to building size and requirements. We start with a consultation and a concrete quote, not a thumb-in-the-air price.
Will my home still work without internet?
Yes. We build on local-first principles — automations and controls run on a local server in your home. Remote access and notifications use the internet, but core functions (lighting, climate, security) keep working even when it's down.
Can I start small and expand later?
Yes — Home Assistant is built for exactly this. Start with smart lighting and climate, then add security, energy monitoring, blinds or voice control a month or a year later. The system grows with you, no full rebuild needed.
